Therapies: Naturopathy |
|
| Naturopathy has concentrated on helping the body to cure itself. It aims to do this by means of various therapies, chiropractic, diets and dieting, exercise, hydrotherapy, massage, osteopathy, relaxation and breathing, and yoga. It also encourages people to think positively in terms of good health. When our health breaks down, naturopathy sets out to identify the underlining cause of illness and to treat this, rather than trying to suppress or merely alleviative the symptoms. Disease is thought by naturopaths to have one major cause-the breakdown of the body’s normal balance. By treating each case as unique, and each person as an individual, naturopaths take into account the patient’s entire physical, emotional, biochemical and social circumstances. Naturopaths believe that their holistic approach can help all kinds of people with all kinds of medical problems. Age is no barrier. As naturopaths concentrate on the person, rather than the disease, they emphasise that their success depends upon their patients’ ability to heal themselves. Many naturopaths use various special diagnostic techniques such as iridology (examining the iris of your eyes for signs of illness) and hair diagnosis. Samples of your blood and urine may also be taken for laboratory analysis. |
