| Alcoholism |
What is it? |
This is one of the most common forms of addiction.
The symptoms are a continual craving for alcohol. As the illness develops, one needs to drink more to get the same effect. Alcoholism develops slowly over years of steadily increasing consumption. Later the system becomes dependant on alcohol and, if one cannot get it, one suffers withdrawal symptoms such as feverishness and tremors accompanied by hallucinations. There may be vitamin defiencies if meals are neglected.
