| Back Pain |
What is it? |
The pain is usually in the lower back, but it can lead to sciatica in the leg. Acute back pain is usually associated with an injury or with a slipped disc, pulled muscle or torn ligament. Playing games, lifting heavy objects or moving awkwardly can bring it on. Continuous or recurring back pain is mostly caused by poor posture. Sleeping in the wrong position or on the wrong sort of bed often adds to the problem. If the back pain does not have a simple physical cause, but is a symptom of something more serious, inappropriate treatment could be dangerous. Although back pain is a physical ailment, psychological elements should not be overlooked. Stress and anxiety can contribute significantly to back problems.
